I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I am a social worker and have spent many years working with disadvantaged and disaffected children. I have worked with children who have suffered emotional, physical and sexual abuse by those they love. I have experienced the same children coming into care yet to experience further discrimination and poor outcomes; through not achieving a good education to suffering from drug addiction and self-harm from their own poor self worth.
I now work for an Independent Fostering Agency, Capstone. We recruit and train foster carers to look after and care for children coming into care. Capstone are passionate about providing well trained and supported foster carers who in turn provide a nurturing and loving home to foster children. I work with some amazing and dedicated foster carers. It is thanks to Capstone that I am able to embark on this amazing journey with Street Child.
I am turning 40 this year and wanted to complete my first marathon somewhere special. When I read about Street Child, I knew that I had found something special. I'm inspired by the work of Street Child and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Sierra Leone Marathon 2018. The money raised on my page will go towards providing a child with education, school uniform as well as training teachers. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. Remember, anything you pay before the 15th of February will be matched by the Government; so if you give £10, that will double!
The more people that know about Street Child, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
